OnTap Invoice Payment

Invoice Payment extension allows the merchant to generate an order in Magento, and send a request for payment to their customer which enables them to pay online via credit / debit card.


  • Allows the customer to pay online for their orders which are placed using offline payment methods (For ex: Check / Money Order) that has been created by Admin on behalf of the customer.
  • Payment Method: Stripe and BrainTree
  • Generates invoice and sent to customers upon completion of payment.

Make a backup!

Direct installation of Magento extensions onto your production web site is not recommended or supported. We advise you to install this on a development version of your web site first to ensure correct operation with your particular Magento installation.

In addition, we advise you to make a complete backup of your Magento system (application files and database) before proceeding.

General Usage

Extension Configuration

To access the configuration of the module, select Stores → Configuration → On Tap → Invoice Payment from within the admin panel:

From here the backend administrator can Enable the extension that allows selecting Payment Integration Method.

Email copy of invoice to customer setting, if set to Yes, sends an email of the invoice to the customers once they will do the payment. The invoice email will be sent to the email which is being used while placing an order.

Payment Integration Method

One can use 2 separate options here:

1) Braintree

In this case, you will need to make sure that BrainTree Payment method is configured correctly and enabled.

2) Stripe

If selected, the Stripe configuration credentials will appear here:

Stripe Publishable Key is the field to enter Publishable Key available in your Stripe Account.

Stripe Secret Key is the field to enter the Secret Key available in your Stripe Account.

Both keys are required to be set. Please use this link for the reference.

Widget Name, Widget Description, & Widget Image will appear in the popup which will appear on the frontend when you will try to do payment:

As per above image:

  • Widget Name = Test Name
  • Widget Description = Test Description
  • Widget Image = The Icon appearing in the top-center of your popup.

Email Template Integration

To provide a payment link in the order confirmation email received by user so that they can click on link and pay for their order, the Order email template needs to be updated.

To update the email template, Go to Marketing → Email Template, and select the email template which is currently being used as New Order confirmation email.

You can check the current email template which is in use for New Order confirmation email template at: in Stores → Configuration → Sales → Sales Email → Orders:

Once you have opened the email template page, add the code just at the end of email template (right before the footer template).

The code you need to insert is:

You'll need to save the template after doing changes. Please make sure that the template you have edited/created is being used as New Order email Confirmation template.

Now, such link will appear in the Order Confirmation email:

Once the customers click the link, they are taken to the website and they will see a page with details of their Order ID and the email address they've used for during the checkout:

The Order Increment Id and Email address fields will be pre-populated. Customer needs to verify the details and then click on the Pay Invoice button.

After that the popup will appear where the user needs to enter the required details to make payment.

The popup may vary depending upon the selected Integration Method under Module Configuration.

After entering the required payment details in the Popup, the customer can click the Pay button. The customer will get a confirmation message and the invoice email.

Payments For the Complete Orders

If any existing customer wants to do online payment for the order they have placed using Offline payment method, they will need to login to their account and go to My Order / Order Listing section under their Account Dashboard. Then, they will need to select the order for which they want to pay online.

In the selected order/order detail page, there will be a link requesting to Pay online:

Customer needs to click on this link and follow the process mentioned above.

Which version of Magento is required?

Invoice Payment has been tested with versions 2.1.0 to 2.4.* inclusive of the following:

  • Magento Open Source (Community Edition)
  • Magento Commerce (Enterprise Edition)
  • Magento Cloud Edition
How much does it cost?

Pricing is the same regardless of which Magento edition you have. However, if you want us to install the module for you, we charge extra for that.

It is licensed per server, so if you have multiple Magento instances, then you’ll need to purchase multiple licenses.

Is it easy to install?

Yes. The extension is delivered as a Magento module that can be very easily installed. The process should only take minutes. Alternatively, we can install it for you.

Is the source code encrypted?

No. The source code is not encrypted so can be modified.

Is support available?

The extension is fully supported by On Tap. You are eligible for technical support and product updates for 365 days from the point of purchase. You can extend this, for additional cost, after it expires to ensure that you continue to receive support and upgrades.

Bug fixes are included within the lifetime of your use of the product regardless of whether you have technical support/product updates. As long as we can replicate the bug in our extension on a clean version of Magento (using a version that is supported by your version of the extension), then we’ll fix it free of charge.
